The Distillery
Blanton’s is a premium bottling from the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky, USA. Blanton’s was the world’s first single-barrel bourbon released back in 1984, and has grown in prestige since then due to its delicious and inoffensive flavour profile and also gained some popularity after featuring in the John Wick film series.
This whiskey was bottled on 20th August 2019 from Barrel #628, stored in Warehouse H on Rick #56

Vanilla, fresh oranges, caramel, honey, light hints of hay and new wood and a touch of maraschino cherry

Light body, vanilla, green apples, honey and white pepper

Medium finish. Drying woodiness balanced with some rye spice, leather and hay, finished off by a surge of caramel make for an interesting finish in contrast to the sweet nose and palate
The Verdict
A fantastic way to ease someone into the world of “better” bourbon/whiskey. This was actually my gateway whiskey after my wife bought it for me because of the cool bottle. After coming back to it now after trying many more bourbons, i do think the current price you’re paying overs for the brand and cool bottle. If you can grab the brown labelled Blanton’s Original, its only an extra $10 on this and its well worth it, since this feels like a watered down version of that.
However that doesn’t stop this being a very yummy and extremely easy to drink bourbon with a great nose. Works great on the rocks for a hot day or neat, also makes a good old fashioned, but bang-for-buck there are better options out there.
