Jack Daniel’s is arguably the most recognisable whiskey brand on he planet. Mostly known for their base whiskey which is a great mixer for coke, they have surprised whiskey aficionados with some of their better offerings such as their barrel proof single barrel and their ryes.

Very light, salted beer nuts, caramel nut brittle, peanut shells, toasted oak

Light-medium body, light flavours of distinctive JD bananas, caramel, vanilla & oak spice.
Finish 3/5
Medium-long finish, banana bread, honey, butter with a sticky sweet linger
The Verdict
Disappointingly light on flavour throughout. The nose was notably weak on intensity. The flavours are inoffensive and classic JD, but there just isn’t any oomph to it at any stage. There is a nice linger on the finish to add some redemption, but overall just not worth the money compared to other products in the same price range.
Since this is a single barrel offering its possible i got a dud and this isn’t the norm, or perhaps it was stored incorrectly in the store and has lost its oomph, so if i manage to get my hands on a different bottling of this i’ll give it a re-go.
The Price
Retailing at $105 AUD, it’s an easy drinking and inoffensive drop, but i can’t justify the price. There are far better offerings available from Jack Daniel’s.
